The United States has the highest rates of sexually transmitted diseases (STD) in the industrialized world. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that 19 million new infections occur each year, almost half of them among young people ages 15 to 24.
When it comes to STDs, the CDC is focusing its efforts on preventing the spread of disease. They have conducted research to determine which prevention programs are effective and have disseminated information about these programs so others can replicate them. Agencies operating CDC funded prevention initiatives are required to use the Prevention Evaluation Monitoring System (PEMS) to report on their activities.
Groupware Technologies has integrated the CDC prevention reporting requirements into Provide® Enterprise and the CDC has certified that information extracted from Provide® Enterprise meets the PEMS requirements. As a result, agencies using Provide® Enterprise do not need to enter prevention information in PEMS.
Because we adapt Provide® Enterprise to meet each agency’s particular needs, those interested in collecting additional prevention information are able to do so. With both prevention and treatment information maintained in one system, agencies can track Client’s across the care continuum and can determine what reports they want the system to generate. Access to this additional information gives agencies the ability to assess the effectiveness of their prevention programs and to modify and enhance their programs as appropriate.
